FJT for Business is a Brighton-based business run by Fiona J Thomas, which has been built on some 25 years experience in manual and computerised bookkeeping and accounting, business planning, project and funding management.

FJT’s offering is quite simple:
A flexible, quality, virtual or on-site service in the areas of bookkeeping, business planning and financial reporting for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.

FJT’s customer base has included organisations in education, design, surveying and yacht rigging, but her speciality lies in the hospitality sector, serving cafés, restaurants, B&Bs and small hotels.

How

We eliminate the grunt of the work in administering a business through streamlined and integrated processes using Xero Accounting cloud-based software and any Xero add-ons required specific to the individual needs of a client. The results: reduced and manageable time and human resource requirements together with their associated costs; accurate and timely integrated reporting in respect of financial regulations and compliance.

Sales

You provide us with the data for your sales by either:

  • Creating quotes on Xero
  • Creating sales data on a Xero add-on application for posting to Xero
  • Posting a customer purchase order to Xero
  • Instructing us by email to raise an invoice
  • You create an invoice on Xero
Purchases
  • You forward emails with supplier invoice attachments to a Xero mailbox
  • You scan your supplier invoices and send them to the Xero mailbox
  • We feed these straight into Xero
Bank transactions
  • We set up an automatic feed into Xero from your bank account so that transactions are automatically posted
  • We match the transactions to sales, purchases, other nominal transactions
Expenses and receipts
  • You scan expenses and receipts on your phone and automatically send them through to the Xero mailbox

We review all transactions, make adjustments, reconcile accounts and provide you with periodic reporting.

Business planning

Written business plan
We provide you with a template to work with and a set of guidelines. Often planning your own business is overwhelming so we offer one to one support to draw up a realistic plan.

Financials
We provide you with a financials template and tailor this to your written business plan.

Funding and investors
At the end of this process you are ready to present your business plan to your bank, potential funding stream or investor.

Operational plan
We help you translate your business plan into an operational plan translating objectives into clear prioritised tasks, allocated to responsible parties and to be met by deadlines.

A half hour session held on-site, via Facetime or Skype in which we aim to learn about your business and your requirements. After this consultation, we will estimate the likely number of hours required to achieve your goals.

Due to the uncertain nature of accounts, time is chargeable by the hour and after a three-month period we aim to offer you a set fee going forward to help your cashflow.
